After months of speculations and pronostics, the African Union has finally elected its first chairwoman during the 19th summit in Addis Ababa. Doctor Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, 63, succeeds Jean Ping at the Commission of the African Union. A South African Politician ( member of the African National Congress) and Anti-Apartheid activist, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma started her career as the Minister of Health under Nelson Mandela and later became the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Thabo Mbeki‘s government. In January 2012, Dlamini-Zuma announced her candidature at the African Union Commission, running against Gabon’s Jean Ping. She won with the 60 per cent majority (37 votes) making her the first woman to lead the African Union. waliafrica.com/2012/07/16/aus-first-lady/

Congrats! I was starting to become sick and tired of these corrupt men, hopefully she will be less deceitful, even though I don't think she's that different. They all suck; I'm just happy because it's a woman. Bye Ping!
